Our Club wants to make things happen, so in order to make decisions, we have a weekly meeting (our General Meeting):
Where?
The Queens Hotel
The Function Room (Liquid Lounge by night)
125 Goondoon St, Gladstone, Queensland, Australia
When?
Each second and fourth Thursday nights of the month (check the Calendar)
Meet at 5.45pm
Meeting commences at 6pm
We like to keep our meetings informal, and the fact that we meet weekly at the pub should reinforce this. On weeks that we don’t have a meeting, about once monthly, we hit the town and have a social night.
What happens at the meeting?
The Club President runs the meeting according to an Agenda prepared and emailed to members during the week. The Secretary discusses any incoming correspondence. The Treasurer reports on any financial matters. Members discuss items on the Agenda, bring up any new business, and feed back on any jobs done from the previous week. Visiting Rotarians or other guests are also given an opportunity to speak. Disco lighting in the function room adds to the ambience.
How long does a meeting last?
Usually less than 45 minutes, or two beers worth. Since we meet on a school night, we try not to waste anyone’s time, and so we don’t have a meal during the meeting.
Beyond the General Meeting
When we’ve got a project on the go, we might meet up on the weekend to get our hands dirty. Don’t worry, we have lives outside of Rotaract, so this doesn’t always happen. Quarterly, we have a formal meeting, with a sit-down dinner, Committee reports, and a guest speaker. These are more structured, but still fairly casual and fun.
Club structure
All members are given the chance to (and are encouraged to) become a Committee Member. The Committee is formed by the:
President (chief delegator, and liases with Rotary Clubs)
