Direct from the website of Rotaract International, and found on nearly every Rotaract page in existence:
“Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30…(its) efforts begin at the local, grassroots level, with members addressing their communities’ physical and social needs while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service”.
Rotaract is not political or religious. It’s an international service and social club for people aged 18-30 who are keen to make friends, develop their personal skills, and make a difference in our community.
Rotaract, Gladstone-style
Don’t be put off by the fact that we’re a “service club” – we wouldn’t be doing this if we weren’t having a good time. Rotaract is about getting out there as a group and making a difference to our region, and to communities abroad who are less fortunate than ourselves. It is also about forming relationships with people of all ages.
We aren’t a bunch of nerds sitting around a campfire talking about what we can do, but instead, we are a bunch of professional and ordinary people who have a common interest that actually do what we can to make a difference.
We do not operate for financial profit. Non-financial rewards, however, are numerous.
It isn’t all serious and you don’t have to dedicate your life to some ridiculous cult – in fact, our meetings are very casual, we drink beer and you don’t have to do everything – just contributing where possible makes a difference.
Our focus: fellowship and fun through social activities, fundraising and volunteering to benefit the community, and promoting international understanding.
